What Rotate PDF does
Each page appears as a thumbnail with its own rotate arrows. For bigger jobs, choose a target under Apply rotation to, such as Even pages, a Custom range or Landscape pages, and turn them together by 90 degrees left, 90 degrees right, or 180.
Rotation in a PDF is a small instruction attached to each page that tells the viewer which way is up. The tool changes that instruction and nothing else, which is why text, images and file size are effectively unchanged.

Is this the right tool?
Good for
- Scans that came out sideways because the paper was fed the wrong way.
- Upside-down back sides from a double-sided scan.
- Landscape tables or drawings inside a portrait report that readers should not have to tilt their head for.

Not the right tool for

How to rotate PDF pages
Add your PDFs
Choose the PDFs that need turning: up to 10 files, 50 MB each and 100 MB in total.
Rotate pages
Use the arrows on a thumbnail for a single page. For many, choose a target under Apply rotation to, then select Left 90°, Right 90° or 180°.
Look over your changes
Turn on Changed only to see just the pages you rotated. Reset all returns every page to how it started.
Save and download
Select Save rotated PDF, preview the result, then select Download PDF, or Download all PDFs as ZIP for a batch.
Worked example
A double-sided scan with every back side upside down
Say you fed a 30-page double-sided document through a sheet-feed scanner. The front sides came out fine, but every back side is upside down, so pages 2, 4, 6 and so on each need a half turn.
Open the file, choose Even pages under Apply rotation to, and select 180°. All fifteen back sides flip at once. Switch on Changed only to confirm exactly those pages were turned.
Select Save rotated PDF and download. The pages are now stored upright, so they open correctly in any viewer and print the right way round.
Tips for a better result
- Press R to rotate the selected pages right and Shift+R to rotate them left.
- The Portrait pages and Landscape pages targets pick pages by their current shape, which is the fastest way to fix a mixed document.
- If a file asks for a password, remove it with Unlock PDF first, then rotate the unlocked copy.
Rotate PDF: questions and answers
How do I rotate just one page in a PDF?
Open the file and use the rotate arrows on that page's thumbnail. Every other page stays as it is. Select Save rotated PDF to write the change into a new copy.
Will the rotation stay when I email or print the file?
Yes. The new orientation is saved inside the PDF, so it applies in every viewer and on paper. That is different from the Rotate View command in desktop PDF readers, which only turns the page on your own screen until you close the file.
Can I rotate a page by 45 degrees or straighten a crooked scan?
No. The PDF format only allows page rotation in quarter turns: 90, 180 or 270 degrees. To straighten a scan that is a few degrees off, fix the image itself with Rotate Image or scan the page again.
Can I rotate pages in a digitally signed PDF?
You can, and the workspace warns you first. Saving any change to a signed PDF invalidates the signature, because a signature certifies one exact version of the file. Keep the signed original and use the rotated copy for reading or printing.
