Scan & repair

Scan to PDF

Turn phone photos of paper into a clean PDF. Capture pages with your camera or add images, straighten and enhance them, and make the text searchable if you need to.

Runs on your device; uploads only to build the PDF

JPG, PNGUp to 30 JPG or PNG photos, 10 MB each

Your photos stay on this device while you edit.

Editing and text recognition happen in your browser. Your finished pages are uploaded when you create the PDF.

What Scan to PDF does

Scan to PDF does the job of a flatbed scanner with the camera you already have. Add photos or capture pages live, then fix what a photo gets wrong: drag the four corners to remove perspective, crop away the desk, rotate, and switch to a gray or black-and-white look that reads like a scan.

Editing happens in your browser, and so does text recognition when Make text searchable is on. When you create the PDF, the edited page images, and the recognized words for a searchable scan, are uploaded so the server can assemble the file. We delete the temporary copy when the job is done.

The result is a multi-page PDF on the paper size you choose, with a preview and, for searchable scans, the recognized text ready to copy. Your original photos stay in the workspace, so you can go back, adjust a page and create the PDF again.

Is this the right tool?

  • Sending back a signed form or contract when you have no scanner
  • Digitizing receipts, invoices and letters for your records
  • Capturing whiteboard notes or handwritten pages as one document
  • Making a searchable copy of a printed document in English, Hindi or another supported language

Not the right tool for

Worked example

A four-page signed agreement, photographed on a desk

Say you have signed a four-page agreement and need to email it back today. Select Use camera, switch Auto capture on and hold the phone over each page; a shot is taken when the page is steady in the frame.

The photos show the desk around the paper, and the pages look like trapezoids because the phone was tilted. On each page, open Corners and drag the four markers onto the corners of the sheet. The page is flattened into a rectangle and the desk is gone.

Open Enhance page, choose B&W so the text is dark on a white background, and select Apply to all pages. In PDF settings pick A4, Balanced quality and Make text searchable with English. Create the PDF, read the preview, and download a file that looks scanned and can be searched.

Tips for a better result

  • Shoot in even daylight with the paper on a darker surface. Contrast between page and background makes the edges easy to place.
  • Avoid the flash on glossy paper. A glare spot hides text, and no filter brings it back.
  • Use B&W for plain text, and Gray or Original for pages with photos, stamps or colored highlights you need to keep.
  • Arabic text is recognized for copying only; the PDF itself stays image-only for that language.

Scan to PDF: questions and answers

Can I scan a document with my phone without installing an app?

Yes. Open this page in your phone's browser, select Use camera and allow camera access when asked. Pages are captured, edited and exported from the browser, and the PDF downloads to your phone like any other file.

How do I fix a photo taken at an angle?

Open Corners and move each marker onto a corner of the sheet. The tool stretches that four-sided shape into a flat rectangle, which removes the perspective and the background in one step. Reset clears that page's edits if you want to start again.

How many pages can one scan have?

Up to 30 images per PDF, each up to 10 MB and 12 megapixels. The edited pages are uploaded together when you create the PDF, and that upload can be at most 30 MB. If a long scan goes over, choose a smaller Image quality, or create two PDFs and join them with Merge PDF.

Which enhancement should I pick: Auto, Gray or B&W?

Auto stretches the contrast so the paper looks whiter and the ink darker while keeping color, which makes it a safe default. Gray drops color and the casts left by indoor lighting. B&W turns every pixel pure black or white: crisp for printed text, but pale pencil, light stamps and photos can disappear.
