What Crop PDF does
Crop PDF changes the visible area of each page. Drag the handles on the preview, or type Top, Right, Bottom and Left margins in millimeters, inches, points or percent. Resulting page size shows the dimensions you will end up with.
Every PDF page carries a crop box, a rectangle that tells viewers and printers which part of the page to show. This tool moves that rectangle. The content outside it is hidden, not deleted, which is why cropping never blurs anything, and also why it is no way to remove private information.
The whole job runs in your browser. When you select Export cropped PDF, the new page boundaries are written on your device and the PDF is not uploaded. Should your browser be unable to complete the crop, it offers server processing and waits for your choice.
Is this the right tool?
Good for
- Removing the dark edges and punch-hole shadows a scanner leaves around a page.
- Trimming wide margins so a document is easier to read on a phone or e-reader.
- Cutting off crop marks and bleed from a print-ready PDF before sharing a proof.
- Keeping only one part of a page, such as a single chart or a shipping label.
Not the right tool for
- Hiding sensitive content. Cropped-off text and images are still in the file; take them out properly instead.Redact PDF
- Cropping a photo or screenshot saved as JPG, PNG or WebP.Crop Image
- Making the file smaller. Cropping does not delete data, so the size barely changes.Compress PDF
How to crop PDF pages
Open your PDF
Choose the PDF to trim, up to 50 MB; its pages open at their full visible size.
Set the crop
Drag the crop handles, or type the four margins under Crop settings. Link all margins trims every side equally, and Aspect ratio locks a shape.
Copy it to other pages
Under Apply to more pages choose All pages, Page range, Odd pages or Even pages, pick Same proportions or Same physical margins, and apply.
Export and download
Select Export cropped PDF, page through the exported result, then select Download PDF.
Worked example
Cleaning up a scanned book chapter
Say you scanned a 24-page chapter from a bound book. Each page shows the text you want surrounded by a gray border and a slice of the facing page.
Drag the crop box on page 1 until it sits just outside the text block. Left-hand and right-hand pages in a book are mirror images, so one crop rarely fits both: under Apply to more pages choose Odd pages and apply.
Go to page 2, adjust the box for the opposite gutter, and apply that one to Even pages. Flip through a few pages to confirm nothing is clipped, then select Export cropped PDF.
Tips for a better result
- Same physical margins is the right match setting when pages differ in size; Same proportions suits documents where every page is the same size.
- Applying a crop to a set of pages counts as one action, so a single Undo takes it back.
- Leave a little breathing room. A crop that touches the text looks cramped on screen and risks clipping in print.
Crop PDF: questions and answers
How do I crop all pages of a PDF the same way?
Set the crop on one page, then under Apply to more pages choose All pages and apply. Same proportions keeps the same percentage of every page; Same physical margins trims equal amounts in millimeters, which is better when page sizes vary.
Can I crop each PDF page differently?
Yes. Use the thumbnails to move from page to page and set a separate crop on each. Pages you do not touch keep their full size.
Why is my cropped PDF the same file size?
Because cropping changes which part of each page is shown, not what is stored. The images and text outside the crop are still in the file. To cut the size, compress the PDF after cropping.
Can I crop a PDF to a specific size or shape?
Yes. Aspect ratio offers square, A-series portrait, 4:3, 16:9 and the original page ratio. For exact dimensions, type the width and height you need under Resulting page size. Cropping only ever removes area; it does not scale the content up or down.
